Visiting North Dakota

North Dakota residents and visitors enjoy beautiful fall and winter weather. From the Red River, along the eastern border with Minnesota, to the Badlands west of the Missouri River, hunting, fishing and winter sports are livening up the state. Fargo, the largest city in the state connects to Bismarck and Western North Dakota via Interstate 94. Grand Forks, to the north of Fargo sits in the beautiful Red River Valley, along Interstate 29. Grand Forks Air Force Base west near Emerado is home to the 319th Air Refueling Wing - North Dakota's three largest cities are easy for visitors and travelers.

North Dakota is one of the least populated US states, leaving plenty of room for fun and activities. Don't miss the newly named World's Largest Buffalo – Dakota Thunder is located in Jamestown, honoring North Dakota's plains heritage. Salem Sue, the world's largest Holstein cow delights travelers through New Salem, and honors the local dairy industry. Milk, by the way is North Dakota's official state beverage.

Theodore Roosevelt National Park thrills visitors with the sight of Bison herds in their natural habitat. Located in the Western North Dakota Badlands, the park offers pristine wildlife viewing including elk, deer and wild horses, as well as the Bison. The park is encompassed in the Little Missouri National Grasslands. The Maah Daah Hey Trail, winding 96-miles through the North Dakota Badlands is ideal for hiking, biking, and cross-country skiing in winter. North Dakota has spectacular outdoor resources to enjoy all year round.

Winter in North Dakota is time to play. Northerners in the state head to Bottineau and Frostfire winter resorts to enjoy the snow. Huff Hills, outside Mandan and Bismarck, is the local's spot to get outside and hit the slopes. Fargo residents and visitors flock to Bears Den Mountain, southwest of Fargo for winter fun.

The Best Western Fargo Doublewood Inn and the Best Western Kelly Inn and Suites in Fargo have ideal accommodations for travelers in the east of North Dakota. Take in an event at the Fargo Dome, a game at North Dakota State University or head outside for your favorite winter sport – Best Western Hotels are centrally located for all of Fargo's events and attractions.

Spend a weekend at Huff Hills and stay at the Best Western Seven Seas Hotel and Waterpark. Ski your heart out and return to enjoy the large indoor waterpark for more fun – the kids will love it. Bismarck offers the Best Western Ramkota Hotel, which also has an impressive waterpark with a 150ft waterslide. The Best Western Doublewood Inn in Bismarck is also convenient for area travelers.
