Minot Air Force Base
A major U.S. Air Force installation, Minot AFB opened in 1957 as an Air Defense Command base and became a Strategic Air Command base in the 1960s, staying that way until 1992.
Today, Minot AFB is home to the 5th Bomb Wing and 91st Missile Wing, both part of the Air Force Global Strike Command. The base covers almost eight square miles and is located about 13 miles north of downtown Minot, North Dakota. Public Affairs Office offers tours of the Base throughout the year, usually by appointment.
